Pace, time, and distance are all connected

These three numbers are locked together by one simple relationship: pace is just time divided by distance. Know any two of them and the third is fixed — which is exactly why this calculator lets you solve for whichever one you're missing, whether you're planning a race, checking a training run, or figuring out what pace you'd need to hit a goal finish time.

The three modes explained

A worked example

Run a 10K (6.2 miles) in 50 minutes flat, and your pace works out to about 8 minutes and 4 seconds per mile. Flip that around — if you know you can hold an 8:04 pace and want to cover 6.2 miles, the calculator gives you back that same 50-minute finish time.

Pace vs. speed

Runners usually think in pace — minutes per mile or per kilometer — because it's easier to judge effort against a per-unit time. Cyclists and drivers usually think in speed — miles or kilometers per hour — because higher numbers feel more intuitive at higher speeds. This calculator shows both, so you can use whichever framing makes more sense for what you're doing.
